DRAGONFLY FARMS
Where Love, Laughter, and a Few Highland Cows Come Together
The “Moo Crew” of Dragonfly Farms
Meet the Moo-lasses
Every herd has its leading ladies… and at Dragonfly Farms, that title belongs to The Moo-lasses. This lovely group of Highland girls brings beauty, personality, and just the right amount of attitude to the farm. With their flowing coats, impressive horns, and expressive eyes, they often look like they stepped straight out of the Scottish Highlands—though their daily lives here in North Georgia include plenty of grazing, socializing, and keeping a watchful eye on what the rest of the farm is up to.
Fiona, Maisie, Skye, Kenna, and Sheena each have their own unique personalities and roles within the herd, creating a lively and ever-changing social circle. Their pasture, affectionately known as Moo-dy Meadows, is where they spend their days grazing, lounging, and enjoying the mountain breeze. When it’s time for a little shade, rest, or a snack, they head to their stylish barn, The Moo-tique, which serves as their cozy headquarters.
Visitors quickly discover that the Moo-lasses bring elegance, charm, and a little bit of sass to life at Dragonfly Farms.

Whether they’re investigating something new, trying to convince us it’s time for extra snacks, or starring in one of their social-media shenanigans, the Moo-ligans keep life on the farm entertaining.
Fergus, Gavyn, and Rory may not always follow the rules, but they are sweet-natured boys who enjoy attention and are always ready to see what’s happening around the pasture. Their home turf—Mischief Meadows—is where most of their adventures unfold, with Rowdy Ranch, their barn headquarters, serving as the official base for rest, snacks, and plotting their next round of harmless shenanigans.

Breeding with Care
We breed with a deep respect for the Highland breed standard and a commitment to healthy, thriving calves. Our breeding practices avoid pairing carriers of chondrodysplasia (commonly known as dwarfism) by genetic testing and carefully selected matings. Sound conformation, maternal instinct, and calving ease are top priorities in our herd.
Color Genetics in Highlands
Highlands come in a stunning range of colors—red, yellow, dun, silver, white, brindle, and black. Calf color is determined by the genes passed down from both parents. For example, red is dominant, while dun and silver are recessive. Breeding for a specific color requires an understanding of genetic pairings and sometimes a bit of luck!
Other Fun Facts
Highland cows are known for their long lifespans and can calve into their late teens.
Their thick double coat means they thrive in cold climates without needing as much feed to stay warm.
Horns are present in both males and females and can vary in shape depending on sex and lineage.
